Prince Edward County is Ontario's emerging wine destination that is still just a quick drive from the GTA area. This week, immerse yourself in a Jaunt that will allow you to experience all the great wine the region has to offer, while also indulging in the foodie (or foodie wannabe) in you. Plan to spend some relaxing time at The Waring House with this unique retreat that provides an exclusive culinary experience.
Why do we love this Jaunt?
Exclusive Jaunt Culinary Experience - The New Year is all about fresh starts and personal goals, so use this Jaunt to hone your skills and impress your friends with some dinner parties! This package offers a one-of-a-kind cooking experience with Chef Jordon McGinnis, where he will share some of his favourite recipes as well as some trade secrets in his expertly-led cooking class. Each jaunter will prepare an entire four-course meal using local seasonal produce, as well as learn about the wine industry in Prince Edward County, including learning about the wines that the region excels at producing, and general approaches to wine and food pairing. After the class, each student will retire to dine in Waring Hall, where you will able to enjoy the fruits of your labour - your meal will be served to you, with each course paired with a local wine.
Luxury Accommodations in a Premium Lodge - The Waring House has an 1820s stone farmhouse at the heart of the property, providing the context for the entire inn. Your Jaunt stay will be in the Heritage or Quaker Lodges, which were recently built in 2008, furnished with fine Canadian furniture, art and folk art. The entire property is environmentally-friendly, so you don't have to worry about your carbon footprint while on vacation.
Even More Culinary Love - whether you stay for one night or two, The Waring House will make sure you are well fed. Each package includes breakfast each morning at Amelia's Garden Restaurant, and if you choose to stay two nights you get upgraded to a full buffet breakfast on your second morning, and you will receive a $25 credit to use at Amelia's Garden Restaurant for lunch or dinner. Regional cuisine is at the heart of the food philosphy of the Waring House's executive chef, Luis de Sousa and his talented team. With its long and venerable agricultural history, the County boasts exceptional market gardens, orchards, specialty meats, fish, maple syrup, honey, garlic, a cheese factory, one of North America's largest mushroom farms, organic foods, ice cream producers, a cidery and of course, some exceptional new wineries. "If the County produces it, we will use it," says Chef de Sousa.
This Jaunt is a one of a kind experience that allows you to indulge and be indulged. Not only will you benefit from the escape from the daily grind, but family and friends will benefit from your new found culinary skills!
